The MilkHub is currently not available for installation in
Herringbone dairies or Rotaries with udder line milking machines i.e. the milk
line is installed under the cows neck usually on solid deck, early turnstyle
platforms.
-
Units for H/B dairies will be available when RFID tags can
identify where the cows are in the H/B and which cluster is attached to which
cow. However give Double K a call and log in so we can keep you informed of
developments for herringbone dairies.
-
The MilkHub is an automatic
sensor fitted into the milk flow of the LMT and
continuously monitors each cow via RFID tags.
-
The MilkHub monitors by exception i.e. identifies
the tail end or "the worst of" what you ask it to do. You don't have to worry
about the good cows or get swamped in data and print outs of the good news.
-
For example, it identifies the worst mastitis cows and
the cows with the lowest milk yield. It identifies the milking bails that are
milking the slowest or don't have the correct air to milk ratio (cup slip) or
bails that don't have enough cleaning fluids or enough fluid at the right
temperature to clean them.
-
The special thing about the MilkHub is that it is a first,
simple, reliable way for the detection of mastitis infection. It does not rely
on conductivity or indirect somatic cell count correlations.
-
The sensitivity is such that detection is done using the LMT
milk from all 4 quarters.
-
The other major feature of the MilkHub is that it identifies
the cow and bail she is in, so you can draft her out without electronic
drafting systems - although Double-K has used electronic drafting at the Collis
farm, at a cost of around $30,000.
-
The MilkHub is the best technology on the market to find sub
clinical infection without touching all the cows or stripping them to do
CMT tests. If you have a herd with a mastitis problem, you first have to
identify the cows and follow up with repeated
bacteriology, milking infected cows last or in a separate herd
until they are cured by dry cow antibiotics or culled.
-
The MilkHub becomes essential in a mastitis control
program because it identifies infection earlier and easier than any other
method.
